Urbantique History
Posted on line in May of 2006

Live what you love, Love what you do.
Olathe, Kan. - infoZine - This lesson didn't come easily for designer, Rachel Pheffer. Losing her mother, getting married, and having a son, all in the span of 2½ years, taught Rachel to appreciate the little things in life.

From those lessons, and a huge passion for design, Urbantique Design Consulting was launched. The last few months have been a whirlwind ride for Rachel. She's recently set up her first room for the Designer Symphony Showcase House. She has also opened a studio/boutique near downtown Olathe. Urbantique will have open house sales every month with a Grand Opening planned for June 10, 2006.

Rachel started a business doing what she loves, helping others better enjoy their surroundings and their lives. Through her design business, Rachel improves the lives of her clients, not only by helping them design their homes, but also by getting to know them in order to make their living space function better for them.

Rachel has created a line of custom personalized artwork such as memory boards and name paintings as well as fabulous embellished accessories like lamps and frames. If you ask Rachel's friends and clients, they will tell you that Rachel's exuberant personality and incredible talent to redesign a room is what keeps them referring her to more friends and family.

"After having redecorated for me, my neighbors and friends thought I purchased new sofas for my living room. I didn't! Rachel redesigned with what I had, added a few pieces and it was brilliant!" remarks a client.

Another passion Rachel holds dear is supporting other women business owners. She's found that by teaming up with other mom's who still want to have a career, they can all achieve their dreams while still providing a nurturing environment for their children.

"It all boils down to the concept that 'it takes a village'. Whether raising our kids, starting a business, or just getting through a tough day, it's important to have a strong support-system in place".

Rachel says she's constantly learning, changing and growing. "I now know that being in business for myself doesn't mean being in business BY myself. I am so fortunate to be doing what I love and having the unconditional support of my friends, family, and clients."

"It is an oldie but a goodie". I have always liked that saying. Well, now I live it. I am moving again! This time I am buying a house that has all of the space, and amenities that I need. 3 car garage to paint furniture, separate office space aka design and sewing studio! All things I have not had since I rented my seperate studio. So now I can get back to painting furniture, sewing until 2 in the morning, and just down right URBANTIQUE. What does that mean you? More of the items, original art, and great finds that Urbantique was known for.
